The St. James Police Department's primary responsibility is to promote and maintain public safety and security for the City of St. James citizens and businesses and their property as prescribed by federal, state, county and local laws. From parking enforcement to minimizing illegal drug use and abuse.

The police department works a 24 hour seven day a week shift and consists of 9 full time employees which includes a administrative assistant, Police Sergeant, Lieutenant, and a Police Chief. The police department also consists of several active reserves.
