Utilities
The St. James Municipal Utilities (SJMU) is a municipally owned utility. SJMU operates the electric, water, sewer, and natural gas services for the City of St. James. SJMU is dedicated to improving the quality of life in our community by providing reliable, competitively priced services through skilled, safety-oriented and customer-focused employees. SJMU also bills for sanitation service currently provided by the City of St. James. Sanitation services are mandatory for city residents having electric, water, sewer, or natural gas services. The St. James Municipal Utilites Board meets at 11 am at the St. James Meeting Hall, 1320 Nelson Hart Dr, St. James. Meeting dates are located to the left under Municipal Utilities Board - dates are subject to change. Meetings are open to the public.
Applying for Utilities
Before utilities can be connected, a meter deposit must be paid and a Utility Application must be completed in person or via email sjmu@stjamesmo.org. Every person applying for utilities must present proof of identification such as a Driver's License or State Issued Id. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. If you need utilities connected the same day you apply, you must have your required documents (application/copy of identification) and deposit fee paid before 2 pm! If they are not received by 2 pm, utilities will be connected the following day.
